Cancelled for 2022 Enjoy the summer sun, make some friends, have a great time!<\/p>\n The course is a multi-loop\/out-and-back type of thing where you\u2019ll pass one central aid station multiple times.<\/p>\n This is a no t-shirt, no pressure, no whining event.<\/p>\n The most important thing to remember is that our focus is on FUN. Only a handful of people ever have a real chance of winning any race. Our crew caters to the 99% – the ones who will never win but who still deserve an amazing race experience. If you think you’re signing up for an uber-competitive, super-speedy race, we’d suggest you pass on ours and look for something else. But if you like hanging out with fun people, if you like giving or receiving high fives, if you think loud music and cowbells are essential, if you are more worried about having a good time vs. winning, if you like being spoiled, if you like fun surprises, if you want to be with people who truly enjoy your company and want to see you succeed, we hope you join us, because you’re just the kind of person we want to hang out with!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n THE COURSE<\/strong><\/p>\n We’re entirely on the path within Victor Ashe Park. Some parts of it are flat. Some parts of it are….not. At most, the lap will be 2.62 miles round trip. Depending on the projected heat index on race day, we may shorten the distance of each lap to give you more visits to the aid station and keep you closer to the drinks and ice. The lap will never be shorter than 1 mile. (We keep things flexible like this because the most important thing is to keep you all safe.)<\/p>\n There is one giant aid station, and you run back and forth until you get up to the distance you’re aiming for. Does this sound tedious? Only if you make it that way. This course design keeps the people changing as they cross your path, which keeps things interesting for you. Run with someone new for each lap, reach out and give someone a high five, tell the person passing you that they are awesome and hear the same in return. The camaraderie with a looped course really can’t be beat.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n THE AID<\/strong><\/p>\n Our aid stations are epic. It’s simply a fact.<\/p>\n Food at the aid station includes (but is not limited to):\u00a0 energy gels in a variety of brands and flavors, fruit, potato chips, pretzels, pickles, cookies, candy (chocolate candy and sugary stuff too), crackers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and whatever else we decide looks good at the grocery store!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Drinks available include water, Gatorade, and banana and strawberry smoothies (dairy free!) If you have a particular mix or drink that you prefer, please bring it along and we’ll be happy to refill your personal cup all day long with it, or keep it on ice for you. We have an unlimited amount of ice, so put it in your drink, stuff it in your bra, throw it in your hat, keep yourself cool.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Also available in the aid station zone:\u00a0 Bandages, athletic tape, Vaseline, salt tablets, bug spray, sunscreen, feminine products, ponytail holders, BioFreeze, and other things that will help us help you get to the finish line.<\/p>\n Because you pass by the start\/finish\/aid area multiple times, you’re welcome to leave a drop bag with supplies, or you can leave a water bottle or cup at the aid station to fill up with the drink of your choice.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n THE SWAG<\/strong><\/p>\n The 2020 swag item for all distances except the fun run is an Awesomesauce beach towel! Fun runners will get a pair of Awesomesauce sunglasses. EVERYONE gets a medal.<\/p>\n We do NOT do shirts as a swag item. It’s just not our style. Shirts, hoodies, and other gear is available for pre-order during registration. A limited amount of merchandise will be available for purchase at the race. If you would prefer a shirt instead of a beach towel, send us an email to runawesomesauce@gmail.com BEFORE July 1st (because that’s when the shirt order goes in) and we’ll be happy to switch your swag out for a shirt.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PACKET PICKUP<\/strong><\/p>\n Pick up your race bib and any pre-ordered swag one hour before the race start at the Victor Ashe Park pavilion. Yes, you can pick up a friend or family member’s bib. There is NO Friday packet pickup.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n THE QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED THE MOST<\/strong><\/p>\n Are strollers or wheelchairs allowed?<\/em><\/p>\n Yep! Please register any children riding in the stroller if you’d like for them to receive a race bib and medal.<\/p>\n Yep! We ask that you keep the volume low enough so you can hear what’s going on around you. This path is heavily used by runners, walkers, cyclists. It’s best if you can hear all of these things coming up behind you so you don’t accidentally find yourself smushed on the pavement. We don’t like smushed runners.<\/p>\n Walkers are not only allowed, they are encouraged. We do not care what speed you go, as long as you finish within the time limit. All food and festivities remain out until the last person finishes, so no worries about anything disappearing before you make it to the finish line. There’s even a special award for the person who perseveres the longest! This is a great race for first timers at any distance!<\/p>\n Yep! Well-behaved and leashed pets are allowed. Please keep them at least 10 feet from the aid station. Please bring a bowl of some sort and we’ll be happy to keep it full of water for Fido. We reserve the right to remove you from the race if there are any issues with your pet.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Will the race be timed?<\/em> <\/p>\n
